New TV Spot for THE MARVELS Teases Some Multiverse Madness and Hints at X-Men
Another TV spot has dropped for The Marvels, and while it’s short it does tease another aspect of the story as it will also include some multiverse shenanigans. In the video, you can hear Teyonah Parris's Monica Rambeau say, "There's a different reality bleeding into ours," and it’s followed by some interesting visuals. I assume there will be other timelines and maybe other variant characters appearing in the film.
Loki, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have heavily played in the multiverse sandbox, so it will be interesting to see how that will be incorporated into The Marvels and the story that it’s going to tell.
The spot also teased, "Be there for what comes next," and when the word “Next” fades away 'X' lingers on the screen for a little while longer, as Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) can be heard stating: "They're here."
So, is this teasing the arrival of some mutant X-Men characters? It was already established that Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) is a mutant in the MCU, so it would kind of make sense for her to be a bridge for the arrival of mutants.
Who knows, though, maybe Marvel is just messing with fans with that lingering ‘X’ to make people think something big is going to happen to get people to see the movie. It wouldn’t be the first time that Marvel has put fake things in trailers to throw audiences off. We’ll just have to wait and see.
In The Marvels, “Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”
The film also stars Brie Larson. Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Seo-Jun Park, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. The Marvels is set to be released on November 10th.
