PEACEMAKER Episode 6 Packs a Huge DCU Cameo and a Chilling Alternate Reality Twist
The latest episode of Peacemaker Season 2 delivered its most wild twist yet. Episode 6, titled “Ignorance Is Chris,” dives deep into the truth behind the alternate reality Chris Smith has been living in, and the reveal is far darker than anyone expected.
To top it off, fans also got a surprise DCU cameo that could be laying the groundwork for Man of Tomorrow in 2027.
The story opens with Peacemaker embracing his fame-filled new life in this alternate world, while back in the DCU, Emilia Harcourt, Leota Adebayo, John Economos, and Vigilante work to figure out how to use the QUC to cross dimensions.
As the team investigates Chris’ home, Rick Flag Sr. sets out for Belle Reve to question someone who might hold the key to finding him.
That someone turns out to be none other than Lex Luthor. The shocking cameo reveals Lex behind bars, now relying on a cane after his run-in with Krypto. We learn that hehas been sentenced to 265 years and hates being surrounded by metahumans.
A.R.G.U.S. offers him a deal with more comfortable living in exchange for his knowledge of interdimensional portals. Rick refuses to set him free but offers him “an opportunity for redemption.” The two uneasy allies are now working together.
Meanwhile, Emilia and Keith’s trip to A.R.G.U.S. takes a detour when she’s detained after portal travel leaves her covered in cocaine residue from Vigilante’s latest bust. Elsewhere, Chris reunites with Emilia in his idealized reality.
The two share a tense exchange that touches on her past with Rick Flag Jr. and Peacemaker’s feelings for her. He admits he loves her, but she can’t return the sentiment, and he seems unwilling to give up his new life.
Things spiral when Vigilante confronts his alternate self, discovering that this version is not his friend but an enemy tied to the Sons of Liberty. Leota also gets a disturbing taste of the world’s prejudice when she’s met with hateful stares, culminating in Keith screaming, “One got out! A Black!”
At Emilia’s urging, Chris takes a closer look at the American flag, only to see the stars replaced with a Nazi symbol. The horrifying truth sets in, this alternate Earth is one ruled by Nazis.
From there, things escalate fast. John Economos is captured by Peacemaker’s father, who learns the truth about his son. The alternate Harcourt calls for her counterpart’s arrest, and Leota finds herself hunted by a furious mob in this terrifying world.
Peacemaker Season 2 has never shied away from tackling heavy themes, but this episode might be the most chilling yet. It forces Chris to face the ugly side of the world he thought was perfect, while also setting up major implications for the wider DCU. With Lex Luthor now in play, it feels like the seeds are being planted for what’s to come in Man of Tomorrow.
The series continues to deliver an unpredictable mix of outrageous humor, heartfelt drama, and wild DCU connections.
Peacemaker season 2 stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, Sol Rodríguez, David Denman, Brey Noelle, and Tim Meadows.
All eight episodes were written by James Gunn, who also directed three, including the premiere. Six episodes of Peacemaker Season 2 are now streaming on HBO Max, with two more still to come.
