PEACEMAKER Season 2 Will Reportedly Make Enchantress DCU Canon
As you know by now, the premiere of Peacemaker Season 2 revealed James Gunn reshot the Season 1 finale’s Justice League cameo for a recap, swapping them out for the DCU’s Justice Gang.
It’s the latest reminder that Gunn is carving out a new world, one that borrows elements from the DCEU but doesn’t feel bound by its continuity. When pressed about this on Threads, Gunn explained:
"None of these things really exist, so it's obvious I didn't erase any films from existence. But if one really wants to pretend it's all real the [second] is closer: you could say there are [an] infinite amount of timelines and the DCU timeline is almost exactly the same as the [Peacemaker] Season 1 timeline with very very minor differences."
He added, "I mean, I think it's fair to say a lot of aspects of season 1 fit in even less with the DCEU than the DCU, so season 1 is kind of an outlier to begin with."
We also already know Joel Kinnaman will return as Rick Flag Jr., but Season 2 is also reportedly set to fold another piece of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad into DCU canon.
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, "In Peacemaker Season 2, Rick Flag Jr. mentions his girlfriend June Moone (/Enchantress), which makes the events of David Ayer's Suicide Squad at least somewhat canon to the DCU."
That means Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress officially exists in Gunn’s new continuity. It’s an interesting choice, especially since 2021’s The Suicide Squad didn’t erase the original film but moved past it while leaving certain characters behind.
Whether this is just a sly nod to appease #ReleaseTheAyerCut supporters or a hint that Gunn has bigger plans for Delevingne remains to be seen. Either way, it’s a surprising Easter egg that ties Peacemaker Season 2 back to the much-debated 2016 film and keeps the continuity conversation alive among fans.
Personally, I would love to see Enchantress return!
