PEAKY BLINDERS Creator Steven Knight Will Write STAR WARS Project That Damon Lindelof Exited
The Star Wars film project that Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson exited has found a new writer. That writer is Steven Knight, who is best known for his work on the fantastic series Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promises, Spencer, and more. He’s a talented writer and it will be interesting to see what he does while playing in the Star Wars universe!
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) is still attached to direct, but there are still no real details to share on it. I imagine if there are any details to be revealed, that will happen at Star Wars Celebration in London in April.
All we knew about the story that Lindelof was developing was that it was set after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but it was not a direct continuation of the Skywalker Saga. The plan is to make a standalone film that could expand over the course of several other films, and there are familiar characters that could show up.
There’s no word on if Knight will write the script that Lindelof and Britt-Gibson turned in or if he will start from scratch. But, production on the film is scheduled to start shooting in February 2024 and the film is set to be released on December 19th, 2025.
