Prime Video Unleashes an Epic First Look at the Balrog in THE RINGS OF POWER Season 3 Featurette
Prime Video is done teasing around when it comes to one of the biggest creatures fans have been waiting to see.
After debuting during The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the studio has officially released its first making-of featurette focused on the Balrog, giving fans an exciting look at how the legendary monster is being brought to life for Season 3.
The featurette has now been released and doesn't just spotlight the Balrog. It also offers a glimpse at the arrival of the Nazgûl, better known as the Ringwraiths, as The Rings of Power heads into one of the most pivotal conflicts in Middle-earth history.
The Balrog gets plenty of screen time in the promo, giving fans one of their best looks yet at the fiery beast that has become one of The Lord of the Rings franchise's most unforgettable monsters.
One of the biggest surprises revealed during Comic-Con is that Simon Pegg voices the ancient Balrog seen in the series. Fans even get to see Pegg on set filming scenes opposite Charlie Vickers, who returns as Sauron.
While the featurette confirms the casting, there's still one mystery being held back. Prime Video isn't letting audiences hear the Balrog's voice just yet. That reveal is being saved for the show's premiere this November.
Season 3 jumps ahead five years after the fall of Eregion, with Middle-earth in complete turmoil. Sauron's armies have spread across the land, crushing nearly everything in their path.
Only a handful of strongholds remain standing against him, including Khazad-dûm, where the Dwarves have sealed themselves inside their mountain kingdom, along with the elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell, protected by their Three Rings.
Meanwhile, Sauron has established himself in the newly completed Barad-dûr, where he's consumed by a single goal. He spends his days and nights forging the One Ring, believing its power will finally allow him to wipe out the last resistance and claim all of Middle-earth.
That leaves Dwarves, Elves, Men, and Wizards with one final chance to unite before the Dark Lord's plan becomes unstoppable.
The new season stars Benjamin Walker as High King Gil-galad alongside Owain Arthur, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman, Robert Aramayo, and Morfydd Clark. Joining the cast this season is Jamie Campbell Bower, who will portray Galadriel's long-lost husband, Celeborn.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was developed by Amazon Studios in cooperation with the Tolkien Estate & Trust, HarperCollins, and New Line Cinema. Series creators and showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay continue to steer the Second Age epic.
Prime Video will premiere The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 on November 11, 2026. If you missed the trailer that was released, you can check it out here.
