THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Season 3 Trailer Drops and It Looks Absolutely Epic
If there was one Hall H presentation that had fantasy fans grinning from ear to ear, it was Prime Video's showcase for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3.
The studio unleashed the first trailer for the next chapter of the series, and it promises a season fueled by love, war, impossible choices, and the rise of one of the greatest villains in fantasy history.
As someone who's enjoyed the first two seasons, this trailer hit every note I was hoping for. The scale looks massive, the stakes feel higher than ever, and it finally feels like we're charging headfirst into the legendary conflict Tolkien fans have been waiting to see. This freakin' awesome preview got me pumped to jump back into this adventure.
The trailer opens on the scorched landscapes of Mordor, where glowing rivers of molten metal flow beneath dark skies. Over those haunting visuals, Charlie Vickers' Sauron declares to his followers, "Now, is the mighty hour come," as molten metal is poured into a familiar ring-shaped mold. It sets the tone that everything is building toward one defining moment in Middle-earth history.
From there, the trailer shifts gears with a surprisingly warm glimpse of Morfydd Clark's Galadriel sharing a joyful dance with Celeborn, played by Jamie Campbell Bower. Season 3 introduces the Elven prince, who Tolkien fans already know is Galadriel's husband in the established lore.
Seeing him finally enter the story is a huge moment, and it'll be fascinating to learn where he's been and how he'll fit into the growing war.
That happiness doesn't last long. An Orc delivers the terrifying warning to Arondir, played by Ismael Cruz Córdova, that the Dark Lord "is on the brink of crafting … one ring to rule them all."
From there, the footage unleashes one incredible shot after another. Dragons soar into battle, Ringwraiths march carrying blazing torches, and the mysterious Dark Wizard portrayed by Ciarán Hinds continues to loom as another dangerous force in Middle-earth. Over it all, a voice warns that Sauron has "armies scaring Middle-earth."
The series also continues the story of Gandalf, following the Season 2 reveal that the mysterious Stranger was, in fact, the future Grey Wizard. Daniel Weyman's Gandalf seems far more confident in who he is now, offering a grim warning about the price of standing against Sauron. His words about "death" reinforce that nobody is walking away from this war unchanged.
The trailer also teases mounting trouble for Prince Durin and Disa. Owain Arthur and Sophia Nomvete return as the Dwarven couple whose discovery of mithril beneath Khazad-dûm may prove to be both a blessing and a curse.
The footage suggests word of the legendary metal has spread, putting the Dwarven kingdom directly in the path of powerful enemies.
Knowing Tolkien's history, there's an added layer of tragedy hanging over these scenes. Fans know what ultimately becomes of Khazad-dûm during the Second Age, making every victory feel bittersweet.
As the trailer races toward its finale, Sauron delivers another chilling promise. "The shadow rises in Middle-earth," he says while Galadriel charges into battle.
The footage then reveals what everyone knew was coming but still feels incredible to witness. Sauron successfully forges the One Ring before asking, "How would you like to rise with it?" Seeing that iconic moment finally brought to life is enough to give Tolkien fans the excitement chills.
Prime Video also confirmed during the Hall H panel that Season 3 jumps forward several years after the events of Season 2, placing the story in the middle of the War of the Elves and Sauron. With Celeborn apparently joining Galadriel and Arondir in battle, there are plenty of questions surrounding his mysterious absence and what knowledge he's bringing back with him.
If Sauron now possesses the One Ring, the balance of power shifts dramatically. That raises the biggest question heading into the season: who can possibly stop him before all of Middle-earth falls under his rule?
Comic-Con also brought several exciting casting reveals. Simon Pegg will provide the voice of the Balrog, while Eddie Marsan joins the series as Thrain, a member of Dwarven royalty and an ancestor of Thorin Oakenshield.
Andrew Richardson steps into the role of Anarion, a future King of Gondor, while Zubin Varla will portray the Ringwraith Khamûl the Easterling. Adam Young has also joined the cast as a brand-new original character named Marnûkh.
Joining Vickers, Clark, Arthur, Cruz Córdova, Weyman, and Bower during the Hall H presentation was Cynthia Addai-Robinson, who returns as Queen Tar-Míriel.
Prime Video also announced that Season 3 premieres on November 11, 2026. The series has now attracted more than 185 million viewers worldwide, making it one of Amazon's biggest drivers for new Prime memberships.
I've been on board with The Rings of Power since the beginning, and while the series has certainly sparked plenty of debate among Tolkien fans, I've had a great time with it.
Season 2 really found its stride, and this trailer looks like it's taking everything to another level. The action looks bigger, the emotional stakes seem stronger, and we're finally arriving at some of the most legendary events in Middle-earth history.
Needless to say, I'm all in. November can't get here soon enough.
