Prime Video’s TOMB RAIDER Series Locks in Jason Isaacs and Sigourney Weaver for Major Roles

Amazon’s long-developing Tomb Raider series is finally taking shape, and it’s coming together with a pretty impressive cast. The Prime Video adaptation being developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge has officially confirmed that Jason Isaacs and Sigourney Weaver are joining the show in key roles.

Isaacs will step into the role of Atlas DeMornay, a character pulled directly from Tomb Raider canon. Weaver, meanwhile, is set to play Evelyn Wallis, described as a mysterious and high-flying figure with a keen interest in exploiting Lara Croft’s unique talents.

They join Sophie Turner, who is leading the series as Lara Croft. It’s a role with plenty of legacy attached, having previously been brought to life on the big screen by Angelina Jolie in the early 2000s films. This new take aims to reintroduce Lara through a serialized adventure that leans fully into the mythology of the games.

The supporting cast includes Martin Bobb-Semple as Zip, while Bill Paterson plays Winston, another familiar name from the franchise.

Additional characters pulled from the Tomb Raider universe include Jack Bannon as Gerry, John Heffernan as David, and Celia Imrie as Francine. The ensemble continues to grow with Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, and August Wittgenstein also on board.

The series itself is based on the legendary video game franchise Tomb Raider, which follows the globe-trotting exploits of archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft. This live-action project arrives as part of a broader push for the property, with Netflix having recently wrapped its animated counterpart, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, starring Hayley Atwell.

Waller-Bridge shared her excitement about the ensemble, saying, “Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters. I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix. This cast is beyond my wildest dreams.”

Best known for Fleabag, Waller-Bridge is wearing multiple hats on the series as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner. The project is backed by Amazon MGM Studios alongside Crystal Dynamics and Legendary Television, with additional producing support from Wells Street Films and Story Kitchen.

Prime Video’s Tomb Raider series is finally moving out of the shadows and Lara Croft’s next adventure could be a big one.
