Robert Pattinson Teases THE BATMAN: PART II Script Is “So, So Good” as Filming Kicks Off Soon

Fans have been patiently waiting for updates on the next chapter of Gotham’s dark saga, and now we finally have something exciting to latch onto. Robert Pattinson has confirmed that The Batman: Part II is gearing up to start filming very soon, and according to him, the script is absolutely worth the wait.

Pattinson is currently wrapping up press for his upcoming A24 film The Drama, but he isn’t getting much downtime. As soon as that tour ends, he’s heading straight back into the shadows of Gotham.

"I’m so excited about doing it again," Pattinson told French outlet C à vous. "We'll probably finish this press tour in... a week? And then I’ll immediately start doing Batman stuff. The new script is so, so good."

It’s been a long road getting here. The Batman first hit theaters back in March 2022, and director Matt Reeves confirmed a sequel shortly after during CinemaCon. Fast forward four years later, and details have been scarce, with fans wondering what has been going on behind the scenes,

While Pattinson and Reeves are keeping story specifics under wraps, we do have a few interesting pieces of the puzzle.

The sequel will take place shortly after the events of The Penguin Season 1, with Colin Farrell returning as The Penguin for a limited appearance, so Gotham’s criminal underworld is going to remain front and center.

Co-writer Mattson Tomlin has also shared his enthusiasm for the project, previously saying the story "feels new and dangerous," and that "the bar couldn't be higher." That’s a big promise, especially considering how well the first film landed with fans.

On the cast side, some familiar faces are set to return. Andy Serkis will be back as Alfred Pennyworth, and Jeffrey Wright returns as Jim Gordon. There are also some intriguing new additions, including Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan.

Pattinson’s schedule isn’t slowing down anytime soon either. Alongside this return to Gotham, he’s juggling a packed slate that includes a romantic drama with Zendaya, a role in The Odyssey from Christopher Nolan, and stepping into the world of Dune: Part Three under Denis Villeneuve, where he’ll play the villain Scytale.

It’s a massive year for Pattinson, but all eyes are on The Batman: Part II, which is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027.
