Rumor Claims AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Opens with Spider-Man vs. Wolverine Fight That Ends in Tragedy
A new rumor is making the rounds about Avengers: Doomsday, and if it’s true, fans of the classic Marvel movie era might want to brace themselves. According to an insider report, the film opens with a savage showdown between Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and it doesn’t end well for at least one world involved.
Scooper @MyTimeToShineHello on X claims, “In Avengers: Doomsday, Deadpool and Wolverine are sent to Tobey’s Earth to destroy it. Then we get an EPIC Tobey’s Spider-Man vs Wolverine fight that ends in tragedy.”
The same insider added, “In Avengers: Doomsday, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man fights Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine while their Earths are about to crash into each other.”
Two universes on a collision course, and in the middle of it, a legacy Spider-Man squaring off against the most dangerous mutant in the Fox X-Men lineup.
Reports say this clash happens right at the start of the film. The sequence reportedly features Maguire’s Peter Parker battling the Fox X-Men team, with Wolverine front and center.
As another report states, “Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man fighting the X-Men and particularly Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is the opening scene of Avengers: Doomsday.”
A previous livestream from Nerdrotic at Night claimed, “There’s Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man world with Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus fighting the Fox X-Men, and the Fox X-Men destroy Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, and he dies.”
That version of the story sent fans into a spiral. The idea of Maguire’s Spider-Man getting taken out by the Fox X-Men would be a brutal move. But not everyone agrees with that report.
Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus pushed back on that claim, saying that Maguire’s Spider-Man does not die in the film. So right now, there are conflicting reports about whether this fight ends with Peter’s death or simply the destruction of his world.
Either way, the rumor suggests that Tobey Maguire and Hugh Jackman are reprising their iconic roles in CGI-enhanced sequences as their respective universes collide. The broader conflict reportedly pulls in multiple returning characters from different Marvel timelines, making this opening battle a key piece of the larger multiversal story.
Another major detail is that Tobey’s Earth is said to be destroyed during the sequence. If Marvel Studios is willing to wipe out an entire legacy universe on screen, no timeline feels safe.
Of course, none of this has been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios. For now, it all sits firmly in rumor territory. But the idea of Raimi-era Spider-Man throwing down with Jackman’s Wolverine while universes collapse around them is the kind of chaotic crossover energy that feels very much in line with where the MCU is headed.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
