Ryan Reynolds Calls LOGAN "The Greatest Comic Book Adaptation Ever Made"

As Deadpool & Wolverine gets closer to being released, interviews with the cast and crew are starting to make the rounds as they are promoting the film.

Ryan Reynolds recently talked about the similarities between the first Deadpool movie and Hugh Jackman’s Logan. He explained how both films offered something different and unique from all of the other comic book movies being made at the time.

While sharing his thoughts, he gave director James Mangold’s Logan the biggest praise that a film could get. While talking to Total Film, he said:

"The movies were quite congruent with each other at that point. Deadpool was different, and then right after Logan was potentially the greatest comic-book adaptation ever made."

A lot of fans will agree with Reynolds regarding Logan. The movie was a masterpiece and I’m pretty sure we’ll never see anything like it again. It’s a unique film that took some big risks and told an incredibly strong story.

I just don’t see Marvel Studios capturing that. Hell, it’s hard to think that Marvel will be able to reach the bar they set with their own previous films like Captain America: The Winter Solider, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

Logan was such a perfect conclusion to Wolverine’s story that Jackman retired from the role… but he’s coming back and the fans are pumped!

Jackman admits he had no idea that his time playing the adamantium clawed mutant would be as lengthy as it’s been, especially after the early feedback he received. Jackman recalled:

"We were on the low-tide version of that genre. It’d gone way up with the Batman movies and fizzled out. But when the X-Men came in, people felt like it represented the source material about giving voice to the marginalized."

He continued:

"Actually, a couple of people in the industry with their ear to the ground told me, 'Keep auditioning because this thing is dead in the water.'"

Boy, were those people wrong! It’s so funny how these people in Hollywood think. They are still so close-minded.

Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool & Wolverine and the confirmed cast for the movie also includes Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen as a TVA Agent, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.

They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna, who will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It was previously confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26th!
