Sebastian Stan May Be Joining THE BATMAN: PART II Opposite Robert Pattinson

Matt Reeves is continuing to quietly assemble an impressive cast for The Batman: Part II, and the latest name in the mix is a big one.

After recently bringing Scarlett Johansson into the fold, the director now has his sights set on one of her longtime Marvel co-stars. According to Deadline, Sebastian Stan is currently in talks to join the upcoming DC Studios sequel in an as-yet-unrevealed role.

If the deal comes together, Stan would star opposite Robert Pattinson, who is set to return as Gotham’s brooding Dark Knight. Reeves is once again writing and directing the sequel, continuing the grounded, noir-driven take on Batman that made the first film such a hit with fans.

DC Studios declined to comment on the report, which isn’t surprising given how tightly this project is being kept under wraps. What is known is that the Warner Bros. and DC Studios production is aiming to begin filming this spring, with a theatrical release date locked in for October 1, 2027.

Reeves’ original The Batman marked a major turning point for Warner Bros. following the pandemic. It was the studio’s first true mega theatrical success after rolling out its day-and-date release strategy on HBO Max.

The film, which also starred Zoë Kravitz, pulled in $369.3 million domestically and went on to earn $772 million worldwide, proving audiences were more than ready to return to Gotham on the big screen.

Stan spent over a decade playing Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and most recently reprised the role in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*. Beyond superhero fare, he’s been earning serious acclaim for his dramatic work. His recent performance as Donald Trump in The Apprentice landed him a Best Actor Oscar nomination.

With Pattinson back under the cowl, Reeves steering the ship, and potential additions like Stan joining the cast, The Batman: Part II is shaping up to be an exciting DC film!
