Sony Rumored to Be Developing DOCTOR OCTOPUS and MYSTERIO Marvel Movies with New Actors

A new rumor has surfaced regarding a couple of Marvel movie projects that Sony Pictures is reportedly developing. According to The Streamr's Caiden Reed, the studio is developing Doctor Octopus and Mysterio movies.

The biggest thing about this rumor is that it’s being reported that Sony is looking to recast Otto Octavius and Quentin Beck. The studio is said to be looking at Hannibal's Hugh Dancy to play Doc Ock, who has famously been played by Alfred Molina. There’s no word on who might take over for Spider-Man: Far From Home star Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio.

The big question with this rumor is… is Sony Pictures really that clueless to recast these characters to make solo films!? I mean, they have yet to make a proper Marvel villain movie with Venom and Mysterio both being massively disappointing franchises.

There are no additional details on what might be going on here, but I hope this rumor turns out to be bullcrap. If Sony wants to attempt to make Marvel movies that have a chance of being successful, make new Spider-Man films with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield!

I just have no interest in seeing the stories for Doc Ock and Mysterio retold again. What do you think? Would you be open to the idea?
