SPIDER-MAN 4 Will Reportedly Pave The Way For a Potential Merger of Sony's Spider-Man Universe and The MCU

An interesting new report has surfaced regarding Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4. The following news comes from reliable industry insider Daniel Richtman, who recently broke the Pedro Pascal Fantastic Four casting news.

He is saying that Spider-Man 4 is going to have a greater level of connectivity between the MCU and Sony's Spider-Man Universe, and this will pave the way for a potential merger of the two universes.

We don’t exactly know what that means. But there are two outcomes, either Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is going to fully step into Sony’s Spider-Man Universe with Venom, Morbius, Kraven The Hunter, and Madame Web. Or, it will lead to those Spider-Man characters being brought into Earth-616 just in time for Avengers: Secret Wars.

I would just hate to see Spider-Man fully a part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe because they clearly still haven’t figured out how to make great live-action films with these Spider-Man characters. The animated Spider-Verse films are great! But, for some reason, they just can’t stick the landing for the live-action movies. You watch the recent trailer for Madame Webb and it’s amazing that the studio has learned nothing.

That being said, while Marvel Studios is struggling at the moment, I’d still rather have Spider-Man stick with that universe. What do you think?

In a previous interview with Holland, he explained that he met with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, producer Amy Pascal, and other executives to start figuring out what they want to do with a fourth film. He also says there’s a part of him that wants to walk away from Spider-Man: "It was myself, Amy, [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige, [executive producer] Rachel [O'Connor], sometimes other executives from Marvel will sit in. It's a collaborative process. The first few meetings were about, 'Why would we do this again?' And I think we found the reason why. I'm really, really happy with where we're at in terms of the creative."

He went on to explain that he is still a little apprehensive about it: "But I'm also a little apprehensive about it. There's a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there's a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life."

I just hope they can make another great Spider-Man movie. It’s not going to be easy, though, after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. We’ve got a long time to wait for Spider-Man 4 as it won’t be released in theaters before 2026.
