SPIDER-MAN's Jacob Batalon Addresses His Uncertain MCU Future as Hobgoblin
While Tom Holland has been heavily involved with the development of the next Spider-Man and he’s 100% going to reprise his role as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, his co-star Jacob Batalon is in the dark about what’s going on.
Batalon, who plays Ned Leeds in the franchise, has no idea what is going on or what his future looks like in the MCU, but he is expected to return.
During a recent interview with CB, Batalon was asked about the film and his role in it, and he said: "I honestly don't know. I don't know what any future holds for any of them in that world.”
The actor added: "I just feel like if things happen, they happen. I hope so. I definitely hope so. It's sad that he has no friends anymore."
It’s going to be really interesting to see where Marvel and the creative team take this next chapter of the story, especially with how Spider-Man: No Way Home ended.
Everyone that Peter cares about has forgotten he’s Spider-Man, and he really doesn’t have any friends. They have no memory of their experiences with him! It’s pretty wild!
This could be a really interesting, cool, and exciting character study. The last movie also teased a possible future for Ned to become a sorcerer, as he learned how to operate Doctor Strange's sling ring, opening portals in the process. He could also end up being Spider-Man’s foe, which is intriguing.
Ned could eventually become the Hobgoblin. There was even some concept art from Spider-Man: No Way Home that featured Ned riding Norman Osborn's glider.
When asked about the villainous future of the character, Batalon said: "Who knows? Maybe. Hopefully."
What direction would you like to see Ned’s story go in the next Spider-Man movie?
