STAR WARS: SKELETON CREW Early Reactions Say It's "a Love Letter to Adventure Films from the '80s"

The first early reactions have hit for the upcoming Star Wars: Skeleton Crew sci-fi/fantasy adventure series and critics and fans seem to be loving it!

Skeleton Crew is a Goonies-inspired Amblin-style Star Wars series that follows the journey of four kids “who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy, crossing paths with the likes of Jod Na Nawood, the mysterious character played by Law.

“Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.”

The series is said to capture “the spirit of The Goonie to deliver a fun, kid-centric, Star Wars adventure. The show is also described as being a “love letter to Children’s adventure films from the 80s.”

Another description says that it has “the Amblin ‘80s adventure vibes with a sprinkle of Mando.” The praise goes on, but this show actually sounds like it could be a really cool Star Wars show to watch and enjoy!

The show's co-creator Chris Ford previously explained that the Skeleton Crew kids think of the Jedi like fairy tale characters: "We wanted to include the idea that these kids had heard of Jedi and tales of good versus evil in the kind of way in our planet we have fairy tales or King Arthur stories of the Knights of the Round Table".

The series was created by Jon Watts (Spider-Man) and it also stars Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, and Robert Timothy Smith.

The episodes in the show will be directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, The Daniels, David Lowery, Jake Schreier, and Lee Isaac Chung. The Mandalorian's Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will executive produce.

The series premieres today, Monday December 2nd!
