Story Details For Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN Movie; Annette Bening Joins Cast
Annette Bening (American Beauty, Nyad) has joined the cast of Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s Bride of Frankenstein film project, which starts shooting early this year. The film was originally set up at Netflix, but after they dropped it, the movie was picked up by Warner Bros.
Bening joins the talented cast that includes Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Penélope Cruz, and Peter Sarsgaard. Buckley is said to be the main star of the movie, which is about Frankenstein’s journey to find love.
The first story details have also been shared, and this is the synopsis: “A lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to seek the aide of a Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself. The two reinvigorate a murdered young woman and the Bride is born. She is beyond what either of them intended, igniting a combustible romance, the attention of the police and a wild and radical social movement.”
Deadline explains that Warner Bros. picked up the film because Motion Pictures Group Co-Chairs and CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy “are looking to build upon the studio’s track record with female filmmakers.” This comes after Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie became the studio’s highest-grossing movie of all time.
Gyllenhaal is a talented director, and I’m curious to see how this next film of hers turns out.
