SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW Comic Writer Tom King Reacts to Milly Alcock Being Cast as Supergirl

Tom King, the writer behind the critically acclaimed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book, has shared his reaction to House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock being cast to play Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl in James Gunn’s DCU.

Milly Alcock is a very interesting choice for the role of Supergirl, and it will be interesting to see what Gunn’s vision for this classic DC character will be. The character is expected to make her big debut in Superman: Legacy, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

There have been a lot of different opinions regarding the casting, but Supergirl comic writer Tom King is completely on board and he’s excited about the casting. He shared his reaction on Instagram, saying:

"She's Supergirl and she doesn't give a #%*# about slings and arrows. Perfect casting. Couldn't be more excited to see Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the world [Bilquis Evely] built, brought to life by this incredible actor. Insanity. It started so small..."

It’s been reported that King is part of the team of writers James Gunn has assembled to help shape the new DCU, but it's unclear what his role actually is.

Ana Nogueira is writing the screenplay for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but no director is attached to it at the moment.

It was previously explained that the movie is “based on Tom King’s wonderful comic book series that came out just last year… This is a very different type of Super Girl.” in this film “we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time is an infant versus super girl who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to earth when she was a young girl and is much more hardcore. She's not exactly the Supergirl we are used to seeing.”

This new vision of DC will kick off with Superman Legacy, which Gunn is writing and directing with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan starring.
