Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement Are Already Writing TIME BANDITS Season 2
Last week, we got the first trailer for Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s Time Bandits series coming to Apple TV+. I was a little disappointed by what I saw in the trailer as I felt the comedy aspect of it fell flat for me.
As a huge fan of the original Time Bandits film, this series looks like it misses the mark. But, we’ll see. Maybe it will be better than the trailer makes it out to be.
The creative team behind the series is already planning ahead with Waititi and Clement currently writing Season 2. During an interview with CB, Clement shared the update but also realizes that if Season 1 bombs, a second season may not happen.
Clement said: "We are actually writing a second season, but it depends on if people watch the first season. If no one watches it, we throw it away in a bin."
He added, "But I cannot tell you because I don't want to spoil the second season."
Clement also stars in the series and takes on the role of Pure Evil, who wears a pretty wild-looking costume. When talking about the comfortable and uncomfortable parts of the costume, Clement said, "It's not an uncomfortable costume because it's a velvet robe. It's very comfortable [laughs]."
Clement also shared one negative thing about the costume, saying: "But, it's long. So getting upstairs is really difficult. And also I think I had some high boots. Anyone who wears platform shoes to disguise their height, that's a lot of work because you're almost tipping forward. I have a new respect for the women at the Met Gala."
The series stars Lisa Kudrow, Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Kal-El Tuck, Kiera Thompson, and Rune Temte.
The show has been described as a comedic journey through time and space with a ragtag group of thieves led by Kudrow’s character Penelope, and their newest recruit: an eleven-year-old history nerd named Kevin. A lot of the comedy in this trailer falls flat for me.
The series will consist of ten episodes, and it will be released on July 24th on Apple TV+.
