TALK TO ME Filmmakers Say Horror Film Had Audiences Members Fainting and the Creator of the Cursed Hand Quit
Horror fans and audiences seem to be loving the recently released horror film Talk To Me. I’ve seen the film twice already, and the people I’ve taken with me to see it have loved it. It’s just a good solid horror story that I think subverts expectations. It doesn’t really fall into the trap of horror movie conventions, and it does some very interesting and unique things.
The movie is terrifying and there are some brutal horrific scenes in it that definitely have audiences shielding their eyes. I haven’t been to a screening yet where anyone has fainted, but according to the filmmakers, Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou, that has happened in screenings.
During an interview with Yahoo, Michael said of a recent screening in their native country, Australia, “People were so hyped.” Danny went on to add: “People were fainting. It’s happened in some of the screenings. One of the scenes is a bit intense. So people have been reacting, fainting.”
Whether this is true or not, when there are reports of people fainting during a horror movie, that’s good marketing and a way to get people to go see it. Having seen the movie, I can see why people might pass out during it, especially one scene in particular that really is hard to watch. It’s pretty damn brutal and intense.
They also revealed in the interview that the prop person who created the creepy cursed embalmed hand quit after he made it. Michael said: “It was weird. The person that made the hand, that worked on the hand, they quit after they delivered it. Apparently, they had an uncomfortable experience with it the night before… Something happened that night… But they quit, and we felt bad, and we apologized.”
Well, if the prop was cursed for real then it had to have been the prop person that cursed it! These are all just fun behind the scenes stories of a creepy horror movie. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should check it out! If you have seen it, did do witness anyone faint in the theater!?
In the film: “Conjuring spirits has become the latest local party craze, and looking for a distraction on the anniversary of her mother’s death, teenage Mia (Sophie Wilde) is determined to get a piece of the otherworldly action. When her group of friends gathers for another unruly séance with the mysterious embalmed hand that promises a direct line to the spirits, they’re unprepared for the consequences of bending the rules through prolonged contact. As the boundary between worlds collapses and disturbing supernatural visions increasingly haunt Mia, she rushes to undo the horrific damage before it’s irreversible.”
