Teresa Palmer Joins Ryan Hurst in Prime Video’s GOD OF WAR Series

Prime Video’s live-action adaptation of God of War continues to take shape, and it’s adding another strong name to the cast. Teresa Palmer has officially joined the highly anticipated series, stepping into the world of gods, monsters, and broken families alongside Ryan Hurst, who is set to play the iconic Kratos.

Palmer will portray Phoebe, also known as Sif, Thor’s wife and the goddess of family. The role places her right at the heart of the Norse mythology that defines this chapter of the franchise. The casting signals that the series is quickly locking in key figures from the pantheon.

The God of War series comes from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios and has already landed a two-season order. Pre-production is currently underway in Vancouver, with casting now ramping up as the project moves closer to cameras rolling.

The show is led by writer, showrunner, and executive producer Ronald D. Moore, whose previous work includes Outlander and For All Mankind.

The story centers on Kratos and his 10-year-old son Atreus as they set out on a dangerous journey to scatter the ashes of Faye, wife and mother.

Along the way, Kratos struggles to teach his son how to be a better god, while Atreus pushes his father to reconnect with his humanity. It’s a deeply personal narrative that sits at the core of what made the later God of War games resonate so strongly with fans.

Kratos himself is one of gaming’s most recognizable characters. Spartan-born and god by nature, he was raised in a brutal warrior culture and eventually rose to command armies.

His life changed forever after striking a catastrophic bargain with Ares, the Greek God of War, trading his soul for victory in battle. Across ten games, Kratos carved his way through mortals, monsters, and gods, becoming a pop culture icon defined by raw power, restraint, and a haunted past.

The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions.

Palmer recently starred in the Australian series The Family Next Door and AMC+’s The Last Anniversary. Many fans will recognize her for playing Diana Bishop in A Discovery of Witches, adapted from Deborah Harkness’ “All Souls Trilogy.”

Her film work includes Warm Bodies, Berlin Syndrome, Hacksaw Ridge, Point Break, and last year’s The Fall Guy. She also just wrapped principal photography on the Amazon MGM Studios film Subversion, starring opposite Chris Hemsworth, Lily James, and Michael Peña.
