THE ACOLYTE Star Lee Jung-jae Breaks Silence on Series Cancelation Saying He Was "Quite Surprised"
Star Wars: The Acolyte star Lee Jung-jae, who portrayed Master Sol in the series, recently opened up about the recent cancellation of the series after one season.
While some Star Wars fans saw the cancelation coming, Jung-jae was “quite surprised personally” and disappointed and when he heard the news.
During an interview with EW, Lee said: “As you know, my character had died already in the first season. So I wouldn’t have appeared in the second season if there was one anyway.
“But personally speaking, I really loved Leslye’s [Headland] writing. I thought that she was a great writer and director who was very talented in the storytelling, as well as creating characters and creating meaningful structures within the story.
“So I was actually personally really looking forward to watching a season 2 with her at the helm.”
The actor goes on to explain that he’s not giving up hope on a Season 2, saying: “Honestly, I am hoping that maybe there could be changes in the future because you never know what’s going to happen. So on a personal level, I really hope we could get to see further stories of Leslye’s second season.”
Fans of the series aren’t giving up on hope either as they recently launched a “Save The Acolyte” Campaign, to try and convince Disney to change their minds on the cancellation.
Chances are, if we do see the story continue in some way, it will most likely be in comic book form. We’ll just have to wait and see.
