THE BATMAN is Said To Have Half-a-Dozen Villains Including The Penguin and Catwoman

Over the past year we’ve seen a lot of rumors surrounding the villains who will be included in Matt Reeves’s The Batman. Now, thanks to a report from THR, we’ve learned that there are “around half-a-dozen villains” in the story. The report also said that The Penguin is one of these, which is a character that has been rumored for quite some time. They also say there is “another purrfect character making an appearance in the script as well.” That character is obviously Catwoman, which would make sense.

We previously learned that the version of this Penguin in the film will be based on the Emperor Penguin version and he's been modeled after "a very dapper looking Richard Armitage." Other villains that have been mentioned as possibly being a part of the story include Two-Face, The Riddler, and Victor Zsasz. There was also a rumor that the main antagonists in the film could be The Court of Owls and The Penguin might play a secondary villain. Deathstroke, The Joker, and Scarecrow have also been mentioned.

Personally, I’d like to see proper live-action versions of Mr. Freeze, The Riddler, Clay Face, and Poison Ivy in the film.

Reeves previously said that his film will tell a Batman noir story that focuses on Batman in detective mode, saying:

“There’s a chance to do an almost noir-driven detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very, very powerful way, that will hopefully connect you to what’s going on inside of his head and inside of his heart.”

He also talked about the film being inspired by Alfred Hitchcock:

“For me, point of view is really important. I want to make sure you are experiencing something from the perspective of the main character in the story. I’m a huge Hitchcock fan — I like the idea of being immersed in that perspective. Movies for me are about empathy. The idea is to make you, the audience, feel what the character feels.”

It’ll be interesting to see how Reeves pulls that off while also playing with half-a-dozen villains in the story. I’m curious to see what this story will end up being. I’m really excited about it!

As of right now the director is close to casting an actor to play Batman and that actor will be either Robert Pattinson or Nicolas Hoult. Both of them are solid actors and I’m curious to see what Reeves ends up doing with whoever he ends up casting in the role.

What six villains would you like to see pop up in The Batman?

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25th, 2021.
