The Blue Ranger Has Been Cast in POWER RANGERS Film

Lionsgate has announced that they cast R.J. Cyler in the role of the Blue Ranger in their Power Rangers film. Cyler is the first person that has been cast in this movie that I actually recognize. He played Earl in this summer's amazing indie comedy/drama Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. He's a talented young actor, and it's good to see that he's landed this role.

Cyler joins Naomi Scott, who is playing the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery, who is taking on the part of the Red Ranger, and Ludi Lin, who was cast as the Black Ranger.

Dean Israelite (Almanac) is directing Power Rangers from a script by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. The story reimagines the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids given extraterrestrial powers who unite to save the world.

We've posted some additional possible details about the film that you can read about here if you want. Power Rangers hits theaters on January 13th, 2017. Here's the official announcement that was posted on Twitter.
