THE BOYS Star Jensen Ackles Will Reprise His Role as Soldier Boy GEN V Spinoff Series

Jensen Ackles made his big debut as Soldier Boy in The Boys Season 3, and it looks like we’ll be seeing him back in the role in the upcoming spinoff series Gen V. The news of his involvement came from the actor himself during a Creation New Orleans fan convention in Louisiana this past weekend with his Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki.

During the Q&A session at the event, a fan asked him about the future of the character in the franchise and he responded:

"Soldier Boy pops up for a brief moment in this new spin-off of The Boys. In fact, there's a few cameos from the mothership that come into this spin-off. My little bit there was heavily [improvised]."

Even though he won’t be in the series that long, it’s cool to hear that he’ll show up, and it’ll be interesting to see what his character ends up doing with his brief scene. The actor went on to say that The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke was on the set of the spin-off with him for filming. He said:

"He and I were just, like, we were spitballing ideas and workshopping literally in between takes and coming up with a whole variety of takes.”

It sounds like they had a fun time shooting the scene he appears in. The project is inspired by the G-Men, which is a parody of the X-Men in The Boys comic book series. “Set at America’s only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes (run by Vought International), Gen V is an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. It’s part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.”

Gen V stars Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Chance Perdomo (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Lizze Broadway (Bones), Shelley Conn (Bridgerton), Maddie Phillips (Teenage Bounty Hunters), London Thor (Shameless), Derek Luh (Shining Vale), Asa Germann (Caviar), Patrick Schwarzenegger (The Staircase), Sean Patrick Thomas (Barbershop), Marco Pigossi (Invisible City), and Clancy Brown.

The show is set to premiere on Prime Video in 2023.
