The CLOVERFIELD Slusho Viral Website Has Been Resurrected For Upcoming Sequel
Last year a new Cloverfield film was announced and while this would be the fourth film in the franchise, this movie might actually be a direct sequel to the first movie that was released in 2008. The first movie also saw the launch of a Slusho viral website, and that website was recently brought back to life! This is obviously to kickstart the marketing for the Cloverfield project that’s coming.
The tagline for the Slusho brand is “You can’t drink just six,” and the website invites fans to create their own Slusho mixture using different flavors including Blueberry Zoom, Chocolate Rage, Banana Anime, and Strawberry Tasty.
The Slusho! drinks “are classic Slush beverages with the special ingredient of Seabed’s Nectar, giving it a highly addictive quality. It is claimed by the company that the addition of the Seabed’s Nectar also makes it extremely healthy.”
The History section of the official Slusho! site claims the ingredient was “discovered on the deep ocean floor, under amazing pressure and extreme cold.” I imagine this has something to do with the monster or the parasites as one of the quotes in the Happy Talk section says “Slusho! makes my stomach explode with happiness!”.
It’s speculated that the mass extraction of the seabed nectar from the ocean floor is the reason behind the monstrous creature rising up from the ocean floor and going on a chaotic and destructive rampage.
There’s really not much going on with the website right now, but I’m sure that will change as the next Cloverfield movie gets closer to being released.
This will be the fourth installment of the franchise following Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and The Cloverfield Paradox, and the last film in the franchise was not good at all. I’ve kinda lost interest in the franchise, but maybe this next movie will breathe some exciting life back into it.
The movie is being developed by director Babak Anvari (Wounds) and writer Joe Barton. The last update on the film came from Barton, who confirmed that the final draft of his script is almost done. He also offered additional insight into his working relationship with producer J.J. Abrams on the film, saying:
“I’m writing it on my own, JJ is a producer on it. So I go away and do my drafts and then he gives notes and the Bad Robot execs give notes, and then he’ll jump in occasionally and look at drafts and stuff. I imagine probably the next one, because Babak Anvari just came on to direct so we’re getting closer to production. I’m doing some revisions at the moment and the hope would be that this would be the last sort of big script push, and then we get on to actually making it.”
It will be interesting to see what this movie ends up being, but as of right now, there are no real details. The original film followed a group of New Yorkers enjoying a going-away party, when they face the most terrifying night of their lives. A giant-ass creature the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city, leaving death and destruction in its wake.
J.J. Abrams is producing for Bad Robot, along with Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen. Bryan Burk, Matt Reeves, and Drew Goddard will executive produce.
