The First Reactions Roll in for STAR WARS: AHSOKA and This Is Going to Be an Epic Series!
The first critic and fan reactions have started rolling out on social media for Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: Ahsoka series! I was lucky enough to be invited to attend a fan event for the screening, and it was an absolute blast! Disney screened the first two episodes for fans, and those episodes have been getting a lot of high praise!
As I said in my own reaction, these two episodes are a great story to what is sure to be an epic Star Wars series! The fans who are going to love this series the most are those who have watched Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels as this is a direct continuation of Rebels. I was so happy with what I saw and I will have a full review coming later. Filoni isn’t going to let the fans down on this one.
For now, you can read through what people are saying about the show and I agree with what everyone here is saying!
Watched the first 2 episodes of Star Wars: Ahsoka and it’s a great start to what is sure to be an epic series! I’m a huge fan of the animated shows, and I have no doubt Dave Filoni is going to deliver an incredible series! I can’t wait to see how this story plays out! #AHSOKA pic.twitter.com/O8CxQijne5

#Ahsoka is epic! It's got those classic Star Wars vibes while also feeling very fresh. The first episodes set the scene vividly, with intriguing villains, a complex bond between Ahsoka and Sabine, and some awesome lightsaber duels already – I really think we're in for a treat 🧡 pic.twitter.com/oFslCUzqFL

#Ahsoka is a DREAM COME TRUE for Star Wars Rebels fans and an exciting reunion for my fav characters in the galaxy. I’ve seen the first 2 episodes and while it trades whimsy for more serious tone, the performances & action are STELLAR. #Sabine is perfect. A VERY promising start! pic.twitter.com/IBZ4lzFBqi

#Ahsoka truly feels like a perfect continuation of Star Wars Rebels. All the live action iterations of these characters absolutely nail their animated counterparts. Intriguing story with a lot to offer all Star Wars fans. Ray Stevenson knocked #BaylanSkoll out of the park! pic.twitter.com/8KwGNU0j6g

#Ahsoka Ep 1 & 2 are Remarkable!

Incredibly cinematic & fascinating.
A Pure Sci-fi Samurai Tale that builds off Rebels but furthers characters that we love in a whole other Avenue.
As a massive #Ahsokatano fan (she’s my fav SW character)
This was everything I could want❤️ pic.twitter.com/vicyS0b4of
I think #Ahsoka has a lot of potential. As a Rebels fan, I felt a connection to it that was truly special. And yet it’s hugely epic at some times & oddly flat at others. Sabine is the standout through & by Ep 2 I was fully sucked in. It could go south but I don’t think it will 🤞 pic.twitter.com/9BKgNcgXuR

Just saw the first two episodes of #Ahsoka. Great score and loved all the visuals, especially the fight scenes. Adore Kevin Kiner’s score. This akes me want to revisit Clone Wars, and yes, Rosario Dawson is great. Looking forward to the rest of the series. pic.twitter.com/gqwRUONsxG

A promising start for #Ahsoka with many cool story elements that expand the #StarWars universe and feel different from Mando. Ep 1 has some slow moments involving a MacGuffin but Ep 2 really gels. Sabine is a standout. I think those meeting her for first time will really dig her. pic.twitter.com/Jzt6GFqkAt

If the first two episodes are any indication, the cohesive path #Ahsoka is following can lead to some emotionally compelling and worthwhile battles that expand the Star Wars lore. It’s gripping in every way, but especially where the character dynamics are concerned. pic.twitter.com/VsDV3jltmO

The first 2 episodes of #Ahsoka are a lot of fun, especially for fans of REBELS and CLONE WARS. Love Ashoka’s fight scenes the most. The 1st episode is written & directed by Dave Filoni & it’s my fav of the two. Definitely more serious in tone. This is some good #StarWars pic.twitter.com/wWOMBYbWxd

I enjoyed the first two episodes of #Ahsoka, and the best part about it is that it's focused on telling one grand story.

I've never watched the animated shows, so I don't know the ins and outs of these characters' backstories, but their dynamics are clear. pic.twitter.com/L6iwc8eoMB
Initial #Ahsoka thoughts: Dave Filoni lovingly brings his rebels to life in a story that embraces mythology, magic, and lore in a way that could turn off, say, ANDOR fans. Slower paced than expected but still enthralling for this Rebels fan. Natasha Liu Bordizzo is my early MVP. pic.twitter.com/fK9lZY4eqo

I got to see the 1st 2 eps of #AHSOKA

The visuals are MOST impressive. It’s easily the most cinematic #StarWars series yet.
No surprise, it’s packed w/ references to #StarWarsRebels & easter eggs. Fans deep in the lore will love it. 🧵 pic.twitter.com/7mC5O4Bo0o
Out of all of the #starwars shows I’ve been anticipating #ahsoka the most & it does not disappoint! Mary Elizabeth Winstead & Natasha Liu Bordizzo capture the spirit of Hera & Sabine while making it their own. Episode 1 was shocking & 2 was great! pic.twitter.com/ArQAwk6VwY

My biggest takeaway from the first two episodes of #Ahsoka is: I need to watch more things that Sabine and Hera are in, because I love them both. Natasha Liu Bordizzo and MEW are, unsurprisingly, excellent. pic.twitter.com/Evex5J74TM

It might be called Ahsoka, but it's basically a live action Rebels & I'm not mad at it. The first 2 episodes made me cheer, laugh, cry... & really want a loth cat! Great lightsaber fights & lots of heart. If you haven't seen the Rebels animated series, watch it now. #Ahsoka pic.twitter.com/3Ygo7ncDS8

I enjoyed the first two eps of #Ahsoka. I'm relieved I recently got into Star Wars Rebels, because this show was made for animation fans. You'll still be able to follow along, but it might not hit as hard. More thoughts coming to my TikTok ASAP. In conclusion, women rule!!!

Ahsoka is definitely the sequel to Rebels that Star Wars fans have been waiting for. While it's not perfect, it looks better than most other D+ productions like Mando and Boba Fett, but not on the level of Andor.
— Joe Schmidt (@jkschmidt) August 18, 2023
Love the focus on Sabine Wren, but can see where casuals get lost.
…rapid-fire editing. The only major problem I can foresee is viewers being frustrated by the density of the mythology of they’re not already familiar with the animated series #TheCloneWars and #StarWarsRebels. Otherwise I honestly think it’s pretty top-notch and might actually…

The show will pick up where Star Wars Rebels left off and the search for Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) and Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) really begins. The official logline reads: “Set after the fall of the Empire, Star Wars: Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.”
Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) joins Ahsoka on her journey. They will be joined by Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and the droid, Chopper, and Zeb will also most likely return. The series also stars Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Ray Stevenson as Baylon, and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati.
The limited series is written by Dave Filoni who executive produces along with Jon Favreau and Kathleen Kennedy.
Ahsoka will debut on Disney+ on August 23, 2023.
