THE MUMMY 4 Set Photos Reveal First Look at Brendan Fraser’s Return as Rick O’Connell
Rick O’Connell is officially back in action, and it’s pretty great to see Brendan Fraser suited up for another Mummy adventure.
New set photos from The Mummy 4 offer our first look at Fraser reprising his iconic role, more than two decades after his original run as the monster-fighting adventurer.
The photos were taken during filming in Suffolk, England, where the actor appears to be shooting a major action sequence involving a very cool rocket-powered car.
Fraser, now 57, was photographed at a former military base wearing a black leather jacket and matching pants, giving Rick a different look from the desert gear fans remember from the earlier movies.
The most interesting part of the shoot involves Fraser climbing into a silver-and-red rocket car for what appears to be some kind of high-speed record attempt. Other photos show him talking with his co-stars between takes, with the group cheering him on during filming.
Of course, Fraser isn’t the only familiar face returning. Rachel Weisz is also back as Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan, marking her first appearance in the franchise since 2001’s The Mummy Returns.
Weisz was spotted filming separately in London near the British Museum, wearing a brown cropped jacket, mustard-yellow polka-dot midi skirt and hat, along with black footwear, leather gloves and a brown briefcase.
It’s been more than 25 years since Fraser and Weisz appeared together in the franchise. The pair starred in 1999’s The Mummy and reunited for the 2001 sequel, The Mummy Returns.
Oded Fehr, John Hannah, and Kevin J. O’Connor are also returning to reprise their fan-favorite roles from the earlier films. Getting this much of the original crew back together gives the sequel a real connection to what made those first two movies so much fun.
Exactly what kind of trouble Rick and Evelyn are about to stumble into remains a mystery. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, so the rocket car and London filming locations are some of the first clues we’ve gotten about the scope of their new adventure.
Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin are directing the sequel. The filmmaking duo previously worked together on Ready or Not and the recent Scream films, making them an interesting choice to bring Rick O’Connell and company back to the big screen.
Fraser’s return alone makes this one exciting, but bringing Weisz, Fehr, Hannah, and O’Connor back makes The Mummy 4 feel like a proper continuation of the movies fans fell in love with.
Now we’ve actually seen Fraser back in costume, and Rick O’Connell looks ready to embark on another fun adventure!
The Mummy 4 is currently scheduled to hit theaters in October 2027.
