The Star Wars and Marvel Films Will Be Leaving Netflix For Disney's New Streaming Service

When it was announced that Disney would be starting up their own streaming service and that they would be removing all of their Disney film from Netflix, it wasn't clear on if the Star Wars and Marvel films would follow. At one point we heard that Netflix might get to keep the Star Wars and Marvel movies, but it doesn't look like that is the case.

Disney CEO Bob Iger announced today that the company had decided to move its Marvel and Star Wars films from Netflix to its streaming service, which is set to launch in late 2019. Iger simply said, "We’ve now decided we will put the Marvel and “Star Wars” movie on this app as well."

That's a bummer. I can't say that I'm very happy about that, but you know what? I'm still going to keep Netflix and most likely won't be signing up for the Disney streaming service. Why? Because I pretty much own and will buy every Star Wars and Marvel movie anyway, so I can just watch them whenever I want, anyway.

However, Disney does plan on producing four or five original movies for the streaming service, as well as four or five original series and TV-type movies. Maybe if they produce a live-action Star Wars series or something that is exclusive to the streaming service, I'll consider signing up.

Now that we have additional details on what Disney is planing with the streaming service, what do you think?
