THE WITCHER Author Praises Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia and Says His Voice is Geralt's Voice
It turns out that the author of The Witcher book series Andrzej Sapkowski is a big fan of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia. In fact, he says that the voice of Cavill is the voice of Geralt in his books. While at Vienna Comic Con he told the German publication Beyond Pixels (via Redanian Intelligence), he said:
"There are only letters [in my books]. But then I also saw the series from Netflix and I would say the voice of Cavill, that’s right for me. So my own idea of Geralt’s voice, that would be Cavill.”
Fans got to enjoy Cavill as Geralt over the course of three seasons, but he has since been replaced by Liam Hemsworth, which doesn’t really seem to excite any of the fans. But, that’s how it’s gonna be until the series comes to an end.
The writer previously talked about how his input on the series was ignored by the show’s creative team, saying:
"Well the set was tremendous, it was so wow, everything. But no, maybe I gave them some ideas, but they never listen to me. They never listen to me, but it’s normal, 'Who’s this? It’s the writer, it’s nobody.'"
Sapkowski also shared how it’s a strange experience for him to see adaptations of his work, saying:
"Every adaptation that I saw was strange for me, that’s the right word I suppose, strange. Every visual adaptation is strange for me. I look at it and say, 'Woah, that’s how they picture it? Interesting.' Sometimes the impression of the visual is very nice for me, sympathetic. Sometimes it isn’t, but I will not elaborate."
We’ll likely see The Witcher return to Netflix sometime in 2025.
