THOR 5 is Reportedly in Development at Marvel Studios with Taika Waititi

After the credits rolled for Thor: Love and Thunder, the words popped up on the screen “Thor Will Return”, so we all knew that we would be getting a fifth Thor movie at some point. It’s not surprising to learn that Thor 5 might be in development, what is surprising to hear is that Taika Waititi is reportedly coming back to direct it.

The news comes from insider MyTimeToShineHello, who said on social media: “Thor 5 is in development at Marvel Studios. Unfortunately, there is a good chance Taika Waititi will return to direct but it is NOT a done deal. I'd like to see someone like Sam Hargrave doing it, he'll make a badass Thor movie.”

Yeah, after that last Thor movie, I’d be good if Waititi didn’t return to direct. That movie just got way too silly and stupid and wasted the talents of everyone who was involved with it.

Now, while the report says the film is in development, we all know that really isn’t the case at this exact moment because of the strikes in Hollywood. But, maybe Marvel was in early development on the film before the strikes hit.

When talking about what he would like to do with another Thor film, Waititi said: "What is left to do to him? It's got to be something that feels like it's carrying on with the evolution of the character, but still in a very fun way and still giving him things to come up against that feel like they're building on the obstacles that he has to overcome. I don't think we can have a villain that's weaker than Hela. I feel like we need to step up from there and add a villain that's somehow more formidable."

Chris Hemsworth previously shared his thoughts on a new movie saying: "I mean you look at Thor one and two, they were quite similar. Ragnarok and Love & Thunder: similar. I think it's just about re-inventing it. And I've had such a unique opportunity even with [Avengers] Infinity War and Endgame to do very drastic things with the character; I enjoy that, I like keeping people on their toes, it keeps me on my toes, keeps me invested. And I've said this before: when it becomes too familiar, I think there's a risk of getting lazy I think, like 'Ah, I know what I'm doing,' you know? So I don't know – again, I don't even know if I'm invited back. But if I was, I think it'd have to be a drastically different version – tone, everything. Just for my own sanity [laughs]."

It’ll be awhile before we see a fifth Thor movie, but what would you like to see in it? Is there another director you’d like to see helm it?
