Tim Burton Reveals an Alternate Title for BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE Inspired by a Classic Dracula Movie

We recently got our first look at director Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and fans seem to like what they see. The real test will be when the trailer is released, though. While talking about the film, the filmmaker ended up revealing an alternate title for the sequel and it was inspired by a classic Darcula movie. That title was Beetlejuice 2024 A.D. Burton explained:

"It's been, what? 35 years. So it didn't feel like 'Beetlejuice 2' to me. It didn't feel like that kind of a movie. The other one I thought of because one of my favorite Dracula movies is 'Dracula A.D. 1972,' was 'Beetlejuice 2024 A.D.' But this was a nice simple one."

The title that they ended up using works great, especially if they plan on eventually making a third film. The upcoming sequel picks up decades after the original and there’s a death in the family. It’s explained that something happens that sets the story in motion.

The movie Michael Keaton in the role of Beetlejuice, Catherine O'Hara as Delia, Jenna Ortega as Astrid, Winona Ryder as Lydia, and Justin Theroux as Rory, Monica Bellucci as Beetlejuice’s wife in the story, and Willem Dafoe as a B-movie action star who died and became a police officer in the Afterlife.

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Wednesday and Smallville) wrote the script along with an earlier draft by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg. Katzenberg and Grahame-Smith are also producing. Danny Elfman is returning to compose the score.
