Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man Gets a Fun Nod in Newly Revealed SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Scene
We’ve got a new clip from Spider-Man: Brand New Day to share with you and it gives us a fun character moment that reminds fans that the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home still matter to Peter Parker.
The scene that was shared confirms something many fans have wondered since No Way Home. Tom Holland's Peter Parker is still thinking about Tobey Maguire's version of Spider-Man, affectionately known as Peter 2.
The scene shows Peter preparing to put one of his newest abilities to the test as he experiments with his organic webbing. Trying to steady his nerves before taking the leap, he gives himself a little pep talk:
“Organic webs. Peter 2 had them. He was cool. You’re cool.”
He then launches his webs and swings across the city while screaming his way through the experience. It’s a great callback to one of the funniest exchanges in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
After the three Spider-Men finally met, Maguire surprised Holland and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker by revealing that he naturally produces his webs instead of relying on mechanical web shooters. The revelation also caught MJ and Ned completely off guard.
Garfield’s Peter, better known as Peter 3, was especially fascinated by the idea. Later, while the trio prepared for their showdown at the Statue of Liberty, Peter 3 couldn’t help asking more about it.
Peter 2 initially seemed embarrassed, briefly thinking he was being made fun of. Peter 3 quickly apologized because he thought he had crossed a personal line.
Peter 2 then cleared things up, explaining that there wasn’t much to explain. He admitted he wished he understood it himself, comparing the process to breathing because it simply happened naturally.
The callback in Brand New Day makes that memorable conversation even more rewarding. It also confirms that Peter’s encounter with his multiversal counterparts left a lasting impression, even years later.
That isn’t the only tribute to Maguire’s Spider-Man hidden in the movie, either. Peter’s updated costume also takes inspiration from Peter 2’s iconic suit. Fans have already noticed the raised web pattern along with a front spider emblem that closely resembles the classic design from Maguire’s films.
Set four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Peter as he continues protecting New York City while investigating a mysterious new threat.
During the adventure, his powers begin to undergo a strange transformation, giving him unexpected new abilities while also making him noticeably more aggressive. Peter becomes determined to figure out what’s happening before those changes consume him.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin Kuritzkes.
With organic webbing now becoming part of the MCU Spider-Man’s arsenal and multiple visual callbacks to Maguire’s beloved costume, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is finding fun ways to honor the Spider-Man legacy while pushing Holland’s Peter Parker into an exciting new chapter.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
