TOMB RAIDER Set Photos Reveal Lara Croft’s Knife Fight and High-Speed Motorcycle Escape
New set photos and behind-the-scenes footage from Prime Video’s Tomb Raider have surfaced, and they’re giving us a gritty look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft. If you were wondering what kind of energy this new live-action series is bringing to the table, it looks intense, physical, and very much rooted in survival mode.
Production is currently underway, and images captured by the Daily Mail show Turner deep in the action while filming in a secluded wooded area. The scenes involve some serious combat.
According to the outlet, Turner filmed "dramatic knife fight scenes" and "was seen making a swift escape on a motorbike, driven by her co-star Martin Bobb-Semple." The site describes the scene:
“Sophie looked worse for wear as she got into character, weilding a knife as she ran between the trees before being rescued by Martin.”
That motorcycle getaway is courtesy of Martin Bobb-Semple, who plays Zip in the series. For longtime fans of the Tomb Raider games, Zip is a familiar name.
He serves as Lara’s trusted tech expert and one of her closest allies. Seeing him involved in a high-speed forest escape already hints that the show is pulling from the spirit of the games while carving out its own identity.
What’s really standing out from these photos is the tone. Turner’s Lara looks rugged and battle-tested. This doesn’t feel glossy or overly polished. It leans more toward the grounded, survival-driven version of the character that players have experienced in the more recent Tomb Raider video games.
Turner has been putting in serious work to get ready for the role. In a previous interview, she talked about how long she’s been preparing for the part:
“I can't say much, but my preparation began in February [2025]. I've been training for a long time now, coming up on a year, and we're going to start shooting in January.
“I'm really excited, but I feel prepped, and I feel really lucky to have such a great relationship with Amazon, and I'm excited for the world to see what we do with Lara and Tomb Raider. I think it's going to be something special.”
That preparation wasn’t light training either. Turner also broke down just how demanding it’s been: “We've been doing eight hours a day, five days a week since February last year, of training. Yeah, so it's been a lot.
“I've learned I have a perpetual back problem, but I also realised that it's much easier to kind of build muscle if you've ever worked out before in your life, which I never had, so it has taken me months and months and months to get into good shape.”
Looking at these set photos, it’s clear that effort is translating onscreen. Earlier reports from the production also described Turner filming a sequence where she glides over a lake with a parachute before sprinting into the woods.
The series is currently slated to debut on Prime Video in 2027. But based on these early glimpses, Turner’s version of Lara Croft looks fierce, driven, and ready to throw down when necessary.
