TOP GUN: MAVERICK's Glen Powell To Join Daisy Edgar-Jones in TWISTER Sequel From Universal and Amblin

Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) is joining Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where The Crawdads Sing) in Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s Twisters, which is a sequel to the classic 1996 tornado thrilling. Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) is directing the film from a script written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant).

Producer Steven Spielberg is said to have loved the script for the movie, and his enthusiasm for it helped get the film fast-tracked into development. According to sources, the hope is to get Helen Hunt back, and tell a story that focuses on the daughter that her character had with Bill Paxton’s character. She has caught the storm-chasing bug her parents had and I assume that character will be played by Edgar-Jones.

There’s no other information on the story, but I sure did love that first movie when it came out! The original film was directed by Speed director Jan De Bont and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, with a screenplay by author Michael Crichton

I just hope this sequel has the same tone, style, and spirit as the original movie!
