Trailer for Guy Ritchie's Action Comedy IN THE GREY Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill

A new trailer has dropped for In The Grey, the latest action comedy from Guy Ritchie, and it brings together a pretty impressive cast led by Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill. The film had a bit of a strange road getting here, but it’s finally headed to theaters this spring thanks to Black Bear.

Originally expected to arrive earlier, the project was delayed and eventually dropped by Lionsgate. Now Black Bear, who also produced the film, is stepping in to give it a full theatrical release beginning May 15, 2026.

The story centers on a covert crew of elite operatives who operate deep in the global shadows. These specialists are just as comfortable manipulating power and influence as they are handling automatic weapons and explosives.

When a ruthless despot steals a billion-dollar fortune, the team is sent in to steal it back on what would be, for most people, a straight-up suicide mission.

But the operation doesn’t stay simple for long. What starts as a nearly impossible heist spirals into something much bigger as the mission unravels into a full-scale battle of strategy, deception, and survival.

Along the way, two agents and a female negotiator attempt to secure millions in stolen cash while also figuring out how to escape with their lives.

The film also stars Eiza González, Kristofer Hivju, Emmett J. Scanlan, Jason Wong, and Michael Vu, with Fisher Stevens, Rosamund Pike, and Carlos Bardem rounding out the cast.

Production took place entirely on the island of Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands. The location is pretty noticeable throughout the trailer, with much of the footage featuring the same rugged coastal landscapes and sun-soaked terrain.

Ritchie wrote and directed the film, adding another title to a long list that includes Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Sherlock Holmes, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man, The Covenant, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and most recently Fountain of Youth.

That last film didn’t exactly land well with audiences, and In The Grey was actually completed before it but sat on the shelf for a while. Now that it’s finally on the way, we’ll see if Ritchie can deliver something that stands out again.

For now, the trailer leans into slick action, wise-cracking operatives, and a globe-spanning heist story built around Gyllenhaal, Cavill, and González working as a dangerous trio.

In the Grey hits theaters nationwide on May 15, 2026. It looks like fun!
