Trailer Unleashed For GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE - "Witness The Rise of an Empire"

Legendary Pictures has released the first trailer for director Adam Wingard’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The past couple of films released in Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise have not been good, and even after watching this trailer, I’m not really that excited about this next chapter in the franchise. This Godzilla x Kong movie looks like a silly live-action Saturday morning cartoon but with a massive budget. If you want to see a great Godzilla movie, go out and watch Godzilla Minus One! Toho knows how to handle stories for this creature much better than what Legendary is doing.

However, the movie is sure to offer some entertainment to those who have enjoyed the Godzilla and Kong movies that Legendary has made. This one definitely looks like the silliest as it sees Godzilla and Kong team up to battle a new dangerous titan. The movie has been getting decent reviews from test screenings, but I’m not expecting much.

In the film, “The epic battle continues! Legendary Pictures’ cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”

The film stars Rebecca Hall (Godzilla vs. Kong), Brian Tyree Henry (Godzilla vs. Kong), Dan Stevens (Legion), Kaylee Hottle (Godzilla vs. Kong), Alex Ferns (The Batman) and Fala Chen (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).

The screenplay is by Terry Rossio (Godzilla vs. Kong the Pirates of the Caribbean series) and Simon Barrett (You’re Next) and Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight), from a story by Rossio & Wingard & Barrett, based on the character “Godzilla” owned and created by TOHO Co., Ltd..

The movie will be released in 2024.
