TRANSFORMERS/G.I. JOE Crossover Director Reportedly Quit After "Heated Argument" With Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura

According to a new report from Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider, the director of Paramount Pictures’ Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover film, Steven Caple Jr., has quit and walked away from the project.

Apparently, Caple Jr. and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura got into a heated argument and during that argument, the producer allegedly made "racially-tinged" comments.

The report says: "I’m told by multiple sources it’s because he got into a heated argument with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and walked away from the project."

He added: "I’m not going to get into the specifics of what I heard, but suffice it to say, I’m told that some of DiBonaventura’s comments were interpreted as racially-tinged and that the old-school producer suggested Caple should be more grateful for the opportunity to direct the big-budget crossover movie, which is slated to star Chris Hemsworth."

I mean, this being Hollywood, it doesn’t surprise me that a producer would say stupid things when things get heated.

Steven Caple Jr. seems to already be moving on though, as it was recently revealed that he is now looking to direct the I Am Legend sequel with Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan

Regardless of who ends up directing this Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover, I’m not excited about it. The studio is handling it all wrong, and they’re just going to end up making another disappointing mediocre movie.
