Two New Photos For BLACK WIDOW Featuring Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh

Last week, Disney announced that Marvel’s Black Widow will now hit theaters on November 6th, 2020. That date changed ended up pushing out the release dates of most of the other Marvel films that are coming.

While we’ve got to wait a little longer for the fourth phase of Marvel to launch, I’ve got two new photos to share with you from Black Widow today.

The first image finds Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) taking cover behind a wall as two other assassins from the Black Widow program come in looking to take her down. Don’t worry, I’m sure Romanoff will be fine.

The second image features Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova all decked out in her Black Widow uniform and ready for action. As you can see, she’s on a rooftop with a sniper rifle ready to take someone out.

When talking about the relationship between Romanoff and Belova, Pugh previously said:

“Cate [Shortland] was so good at being so vigilant about keeping this story raw and painful. It’s about emotions, and it’s about these broken girls trying to come back together again, and trying to fix something that happened. It’s about fixing yourself, and how you do that. As an idea for a Marvel film, and as a young woman, it’s like, ‘Oh, my God, this is amazing.’ Young women are going to see this, and they’re going to watch Scarlett in her element, and they’re going to watch this storyline, and that’s only a positive thing.”

Johansson also previously explained that the film is a family drama and she had to wrap her head around this surprising tonal shift in her story:

“I think part of Kevin Feige’s genius is that he always thinks about what fans expect out of these films and then gives them something that they never could’ve dreamed of. The idea of Natasha Romanoff in a family drama is the least expected thing, and I had to wrap my head around what that was going to be because there’s such a big tonal shift.”

Marvel’s spy thriller was directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige. In it, Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.
