VENOM: THE LAST DANCE Director Says Film Is "Just The Beginning" for the Villain Knull

Venom: The Last Dance will introduce the Marvel villain Knull to the big screen, and it seems like Sony Pictures has some plans for him in the future.

During a recent interview with IGN, writer and director Kelly Marcel offered some insight into the character and teased that the Venom sequel is just the beginning for the character. She explained that “One movie could never do justice to Knull.”

Marcel went on to reveal: “We were always aware of Knull, but knew that we needed to lay the foundation of the Venom character, and his relationship with Eddie, before introducing him. This is just the beginning for Knull.”

She continued: “We're in spoiler territory now and we hope some of the fun of watching this movie is not knowing what will happen, but trust me, we know full well how important Knull is to the fans, so just as we laid a foundation for Venom, we hope we are doing the same for Knull. The King in Black is way too powerful for ‘one and done.’”

“This film introduces Knull, but it just touches the beginnings of his story. Marvel's greatest film villains are developed over time. Here, Knull is the threat lurking behind the danger that tests the absolute limits of Eddie and Venom's partnership — but it’s their relationship that remains the heart of this story.”

So, it seems like Venom: The Last Dance will set up a future for Knull, but we don’t know for sure what that future will entail. There have been reports that Knull will be the main villain of Spider-Man 4, but there’s no confirmation of that.

It’s also been reported that Andy Serkis is playing Knull, and is "expected to reprise the role in future Sony/Marvel projects, which means we could be seeing a whole lot more of Knull." But again, this hasn’t been confirmed.

Venom: The Last Dance is being marketed as the final film in the franchise, but Sony is obviously looking to continue to expand on the franchise without Tom Hardy’s Venom. It will be interesting to see what this all turns into.

In The Last Dance, “Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest & most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo is forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance.”
