Video of Harry Potter Fans Freaking Out Over Tom Felton’s Return as Draco Malfoy in HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD
The Wizarding World is alive and thriving, and fans can’t seem to get enough of it. While HBO’s Harry Potter remake is still in development, it’s the original films, and the stars who brought those characters to life, that continue to cast the strongest spell.
For millions, Daniel Radcliffe will always be Harry, and Emma Watson and Rupert Grint will forever be Hermione and Ron. But one actor has just reignited that nostalgia in a way that has Potterheads everywhere losing their minds.
Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy across all eight Harry Potter films, has officially returned to the role that made him a household name.
Felton is now part of the Broadway cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and his reappearance as Draco brought a massive emotional reaction from fans. When he stepped on stage at the Lyric Theatre in New York, the audience erupted in applause that lasted for minutes before he even spoke. And then, after 14 years, he delivered Draco’s first new line:
“I need a favor.”
That little moment sent the internet into a frenzy, with longtime fans sharing their emotional reactions and memories from the original series. The outpouring of love made it clear that the classic Harry Potter movies still hold a special kind of magic, one that’s impossible to recreate.
Felton’s return is easily the most significant comeback from any of the film’s original stars so far. Still, he’s not the only alum keeping the franchise alive.
James and Oliver Phelps, who famously played the mischievous Fred and George Weasley, now host the TV series Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking. Meanwhile, Warwick Davis, known for playing both Griphook and Professor Flitwick, is set to reprise Flitwick in HBO’s upcoming remake, making him the only confirmed returning cast member for that project.
I doubt the other big stars of the film would ever return to reprise their roles. Still, fans can’t help but dream about what could be. A Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie featuring the original cast would be a guaranteed box-office sensation.
For now, though, all eyes are on Felton and his run in the Broadway production, which continues through May 10, 2026.
