Warwick Davis Returns as Professor Flitwick in HBO’s HARRY POTTER Series

The magic is officially back in session at Hogwarts as HBO continues to expand the cast of its upcoming Harry Potter TV series. One of the most exciting updates is the return of Warwick Davis, who will once again play Charms Professor Filius Flitwick.

Davis, who fans will remember played both Flitwick and the goblin Griphook in the original films, is only stepping back into one of those roles this time around. Griphook will now be played by Leigh Gill, while Davis focuses solely on Flitwick, keeping that familiar Hogwarts classroom energy alive in the reboot.

Joining Davis on the Hogwarts faculty are some fresh faces stepping into iconic roles. Sirine Saba has been cast as Herbology Professor Pomona Sprout, Richard Durden takes on the spectral role of ghostly History of Magic teacher Professor Cuthbert Binns, and Bríd Brennan will play the school nurse Madam Poppy Pomfrey.

The student body is also filling out nicely. Elijah Oshin joins the cast as the kind-hearted half-blood Dean Thomas, and Finn Stephens and William Nash have been tapped to play Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle, the loyal sidekicks to Draco Malfoy.

Production is officially underway at Warner Bros.’ Leavesden Studios in the U.K., and the casting news keeps coming. The Weasley family was recently unveiled, including Tristan and Gabriel Harland as prankster twins Fred and George, Ruari Spooner as straight-laced Percy, and Gracie Cochrane as the youngest Weasley, Ginny.

Leading the new generation of Hogwarts students are Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The rest of the cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley.

The Malfoy family is also represented with Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy and Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, while supporting students include Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown.

Additional recent additions include Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as wandmaker Garrick Ollivander.

The HBO Harry Potter series is being helmed by showrunner and writer Francesca Gardiner, known for her work on His Dark Materials and Killing Eve, with Mark Mylod of Succession fame directing. Both also serve as executive producers, alongside J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman, who produced the original film franchise.

The series is expected to premiere in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max, and it’s shaping up to be a faithful yet fresh dive back into the Wizarding World.
