Will The STAR WARS Character Kanan Jarrus Make His Live-Action Debut? Freddie Prinze Jr. Says He's Done
With several Star Wars animated characters making a transition into live-action projects thanks to The Mandalorian, there are other characters that fans are hoping to see get the live-action treatment. The upcoming Ahsoka series is going to have some fun playing with that. Dave Filoni recently teased:
"At the end of the day, I've been very happy with the ones that have gone over. There may or may not be more in Ahsoka, if that's your thing. If you're excited about that, I'm just saying that one might have a few more, which makes sense, by the way. As you know, I wrote it. You can't fault me there."
Now some fans are hoping to see Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Kanan Jarrus (aka Caleb Dune) make the jump from animation to live-action. But, I think it’s safe to say that most likely won’t happen considering his fate in Star Wars: Rebels. Also, Prinze Jr. is done with the character. During a recent interview with CB, he was asked about the possibility of Kanan making his live-action debut, and this was his reply:
"Kanana's story – at least for me – is done, I thought it ended beautifully. People cried, I was very happy for that. I don't mean that like a jerk: our goal was to make you cry. I didn't even want to do the little voice over in the last Star Wars movie [The Rise of Skywalker]. I thought it felt forced."
I honestly don’t see the point of bringing him back since his story arc has been closed. But, if the creative team wanted to, they could bring him back for flashback sequences. There’s no reason to reopen it. But, I am curious to see what other characters from Rebels make their way into the Ahsoka series.
What we do know so far is that Rosario Dawson’s Ashoka will be joined by Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), Grand Admiral Thrawn, and possibly Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizebeth Winstead). Prinze Jr. went on to say:
"To me, every time I'm asked to do Kanan it waters down what was a beautiful ending... It's this amazing powerful moment. So for me, that story's been told, and it's done, and I wouldn't have any interest in that. And it would be weird to play a different character in that universe, so I don't have any ambition to be in the Star Wars Universe."
There you have it! That pretty much answers that.
