Wolverine and Spider-Man's AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Screen Time May Have Been Revealed and It's Surprisingly Short
The rumor mill surrounding Avengers: Doomsday keeps cranking out wild new claims, and the latest one has fans wondering just how much time they'll actually get to spend with two of Marvel's most beloved heroes.
According to a new report, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man may only appear for a few minutes before their stories take a shocking turn during the movie's opening sequence.
The latest claim comes from scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X, who reported: “Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man will reportedly have 3 minutes of screen time before being killed.”
The post immediately sparked plenty of conversation among Marvel fans, especially because it lines up with several previous rumors surrounding the film's opening multiversal battle.
Earlier this year, the same scooper shared another intriguing detail about the beginning of Avengers: Doomsday, saying: “In Avengers Doomsday, Deadpool and Wolverine are sent to Tobey’s Earth to destroy it.”
The insider also teased an: “EPIC Tobey’s Spider-Man vs Wolverine fight that ends in tragedy.”
If these rumors are legit, Marvel is planning to throw audiences straight into a brutal multiversal conflict from the very first moments of the movie, and it’s going to be a jaw-dropping scene for fans to experience.
Those reports also connect with previous claims made during a Nerdrotic at Night livestream. According to that report, Maguire's Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus battle the Fox X-Men on Tobey's Earth before the conflict escalates.
The rumor goes on to claim that the Fox X-Men ultimately destroy Maguire's Spider-Man as the battle reaches its devastating conclusion.
Of course, not everyone agrees that's how things play out. Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus has pushed back against those reports, maintaining that Maguire's Spider-Man actually survives the events of the film. With scoopers offering completely different versions of the story, fans are still left guessing what Marvel really has planned.
Other rumors continue to paint an even bigger picture of the opening sequence. The battle reportedly ends with the complete destruction of Tobey Maguire's Earth, while both Maguire and Jackman are said to return throughout the sequence using CGI-enhanced shots.
More recent reports have also suggested that Magneto joins Wolverine and the Fox X-Men during the opening conflict, making the sequence even more ambitious.
As always, it's worth remembering that none of these plot details have been confirmed by Marvel Studios. Until the studio officially reveals what's in store, all of these reports should be treated as rumors.
Still, if this latest claim is accurate, Avengers: Doomsday may waste little time throwing fans into one of the biggest and most emotional multiversal battles the MCU has attempted. Three minutes isn't much time for Wolverine and Spider-Man, but if those minutes deliver the kind of action and heartbreak these reports describe, they could leave a lasting impression before the movie heads in an entirely new direction.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18.
