X-MEN Star Inde Navarrette Rumored to Debut as Rogue In AVENGERS: SECRET WARS
Rogue may be jumping into the MCU sooner than we thought. Inde Navarrette is officially set to play Anna Marie, better known to Marvel fans as Rogue, in Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men movie.
While that mutant reboot isn't hitting theaters until 2028, a new rumor claims we'll get our first look at Navarrette's Rogue a year earlier in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel Studios revealed the first wave of X-Men casting news at D23, confirming that Jake Schreier will direct the currently untitled movie.
Kit Connor is playing Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott is Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving is Emma Frost, Navarrette is Rogue, and Maya Boyd is Storm. Adam Driver will take on the villainous role of Nathaniel Milbury, a.k.a. Mister Sinister.
Navarrette should already be familiar to plenty of comic book fans thanks to her role as Sarah Cortez in Superman & Lois. Earlier this year, she also delivered a breakout performance in the 2026 horror hit Obsession.
Her casting as Rogue wasn't one many fans saw coming, but the response to Marvel's choice has been overwhelmingly positive.
Now, Jeff Sneider is reporting on The Hot Mic that Navarrette will make her first MCU appearance as Rogue in 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars. Sneider's report follows previous claims that Sadie Sink will also appear in Secret Wars as Jean Grey.
Getting some of Marvel's new mutants into Secret Wars would make a lot of sense. The next Avengers movie is positioned to be one of Marvel Studios' biggest theatrical events, making it a massive stage on which to introduce characters who will help shape the MCU's future.
The bigger question is how much Rogue and the other mutants might actually factor into the movie. They could have meaningful roles in the multiversal madness, or Marvel could save their appearance for the end of the film as a bridge into X-Men. The mutant movie arrives only five months later, on May 5, 2028.
There may be another major addition to the team as well. It was also mentioned that Alien: Romulus star Cailee Spaeny is still being eyed for a role in X-Men, with plans for the character to continue into future movies.
That suggests Spaeny could potentially play another member of the mutant team, although fans have also floated Moira MacTaggert as a possibility. For now, her potential role remains unknown.
Then there's Magneto. Recent claims have linked Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy), Henry Cavill (Man of Steel), and Matt Smith (Morbius) to the Master of Magnetism, but Sneider says he hasn't heard anything suggesting that any of those actors are actually in contention for the role.
One actor whose name did reach him some time ago was Jeremy Strong, star of The Social Reckoning. There's currently no indication that Strong has been cast or that he's even still being considered, so Magneto remains one of the biggest question marks surrounding Marvel Studios' new take on the X-Men.
If the Secret Wars rumor turns out to be legit, Marvel won't be making audiences wait until 2028 to meet its new generation of X-Men.
