Zachary Levi Says He'd Do a Live-Action TANGLED Movie if Florence Pugh Plays Rapunzel

As you know, Disney has put a lot of focus and attention on remaking some of its animated classics as live-action films, and none of them have been good as the original films. But, for the most part, this plan has worked out for the studio and these remakes have made them a lot of money, which is why they keep doing it.

It makes sense that at some point they are going to develop a live-action Tangled movie. The original film starred Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi took on the role of Flynn Rider.

During a recent panel at a fan convention, Levi talked about the idea of Florence Pugh portraying Rapunzel in a live-action Tangled remake saying that if that happens, he wants to reprise his role as Flynn Rider.

"There was this thing, I just saw it earlier, floating around the internet that Florence Pugh potentially might play the role of Rapunzel. And if Florence plays Rapunzel... (indistinguishable excited noise). It would also be a trip because my real last name is Pugh, by the way. My name is Zachary Levi Pugh. You'd have a Pugh-Pugh (makes pew-pew noise) in Tangled? Come on!"

First of all… yes, Florence Pugh as Rapunzel makes all the sense in the world. That’s inspired casting right there! As for Levi playing Flynn, that’s never going to happen. Disney is going to want to cast someone a lot younger. Hell, they might even think that Pugh is too old for the role of Rapunzel!

As for the current state of a live-action Tangled movie, there was a report four years saying that a film was in the works. Ashleigh Powell (The Nutcracker and the Four Realms) was supposed to be writing the script. It was being produced by Michael De Luca (Moneyball, Captain Phillips) and Kristin Burr (Christopher Robin). Studio executive Zoe Kent, who is working on the live-action Lilo and Stitch for Disney+ and Jessica Virtue (Mulan 2020) are said to be overseeing the project with Lucy Kitada (Eleanor & Park). But, there’s been no update on the project since.

Right now, one of the craziest rumors spreading on the Internet is that Jada Pinkett Smith was cast in the film, but there is absolutely no indication that is true.

When Disney does decide to move forward with a live-action Tangled movie, who would you like to see take on the two lead roles?
