Zack Snyder Says Both REBEL MOON Extended Cut Films Will Be Released on the Same Day This Summer
Director Zack Snyder has spent a good amount of time teasing his R-rated extended cuts of the two Rebel Moon movies that he’s made for Netflix. The original cut of Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire was already released last year, with the sequel Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver, coming in April, this year.
Snyder has now revealed when we can expect the extended cuts of these films drop, telling I Minutemen: "Those will come out, probably, on the same day – later. We don't have a date yet, but I think it's going to be in the summer."
He added: "They're each about an hour longer than the originals, the PG-13 [versions]. So it'll be nice to see the six hours together. You can take a break, of course. It's a more, maybe, immersive experience. I'm interested for people to see it that way. It's very adult, it's very R-rated."
Yep, get ready for six hours of Rebel Moon! The first movie looked visually cool, but the story and script could’ve used a little work.
Producer Deborah Snyder previously talked about the extended cuts and explained that this is something they were actually able to plan for this time around: "The difference [this time] is that we've planned for it… it's not an afterthought. We're still tweaking, but they'll probably be 45-minutes to an hour longer, each one. You get more character. You get a lot more of everything. It's not just a few deleted scenes."
In the story, a group of ragtag rebels rise up to fight against a giant, evil Empire. It’s set in a “peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. They dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand against the Tyrant.”
The Scargiver “continues the epic saga of Kora (Sofia Boutella) and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting with the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld. On the eve of their battle the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight. As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, great heroes emerge, and legends are made…”
The movie stars Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Ed Skrein, Bae Doona, Djimon Hounsou. Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Ed Skrein, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, Anthony Hopkins, and Alfonso Herrera.
Will you be having a six-hour Rebel Moon viewing day when these extended cuts are released?
