Zack Snyder's ARMY OF THE DEAD Universe Reportedly Scrapped By Netflix
Director Zack Snyder has talked about wanting to jump back into his Army of the Dead universe and make a new movie, but it doesn’t look like he’s going to get that opportunity as Netflix has reportedly scrapped the franchise.
The Wrap points out that Snyder had ambitious plans for the franchise with several sequels and spin-offs in the works, including an animated series, but all of those projects have been canceled.
Deborah Snyder pointed out in an interview that Army of the Dead “isn’t entirely dead”, as there will be a themed experience coming to the Six Flags theme parks this Halloween. She said of that: “It’s going to be a really cool experience.”
But as far as more films and shows go, don’t expect Netflix to produce any more of them. I imagine Rebel Moon will is next on the chopping block as those films were terrible. I’ll be surprised if they continue that sci-fi franchise.
During a previous interview, Snyder talked about wanting to jump back into Army of the Dead, saying: "I keep telling Netflix that we need to go ahead and do some more ['Army of the Dead'] and they keep encouraging me to make more 'Rebel Moon' movies.”
He continued: "But I feel like this 'Army' universe is really very rich and fun, and zombies never go out of style, so it just feels like a no-brainer to me."
Netflix obviously sees things differently.
Zack Snyder is a great director who knows how to deliver awesome visuals, but he needs to bring in strong screenwriters to help craft his stories and scripts.
