Zazie Beetz Will Not Reprise Her Role as Domino in DEADPOOL 3
While Deadpool 3 is bringing back a lot of familiar faces from the franchise and possibly the X-Men films, there’s one actress that is not coming back for the next Deadpool party. Zazie Beetz, who played Domino, will not return.
Beetz shared the news herself in an interview with Decider in which she said: “Well I’m actually not in Deadpool 3, so I don’t know what they’re doing [about improvisation]. I’m assuming they’re probably taking a pause. […] I’m excited to watch it.”
So, that’s kind of a bummer to hear. I was looking forward to seeing Domino back in action! She was a cool character! When Beetz was previously asked about her possible return, the actress said she’d "love" to come back, but then added: "I don't know. We'll see. I would love to do more Deadpool, but that's me, so I can't reveal."
The cast currently includes Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Deadpool and Wolverine. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna, who will reprise their roles as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and her girlfriend Yukio, a Japanese mutant ninja.
The movie also stars Emma Corrin as the villain, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. Then there’s the possibility we’ll see Halle Berry back as Storm, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, and James Marsden as Cyclops. It’s also teased that the movie will also include a returning X-Men villain and a returning MCU villain, but they didn’t reveal the identities of those characters.
The movie is being directed by Shawn Levy from a script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. They are going all out on this story and it’s sure to take fans on an insane ride. When previously talking about the story, Reese said that it will be a "fish-out-of-water story." He explained: "It’s a wonderful opportunity for fish-out-of-water. Deadpool is a lunatic at the center of a movie. Usually, the lunatics are the supporting characters and the protagonist is reasonably sane and our movie's flipped. To drop a lunatic into a very sane world, it’s straight butter. It’s going to be really fun."
While I’m excited for the movie, I’m bummed out that Beetz didn’t make the cut.
