Michael K. Williams Joins Michael Fassbender in ASSASSIN'S CREED Adaptation
I just wrote about how actor Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire) signed on to star in Paul Feig's Ghostbusters film, and now Variety is saying he'll also have a supporting role in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game Assassin's Creed.
Williams joins Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, and Before Midnight actress Ariane Labed in the cast. The film, which has been in development for years, is still mostly shrouded in mystery. We don't even know what character Fassbender will be playing (he deflected the assumption that he's playing Desmond Miles in a recent interview), let alone Williams' role as the new addition, but Variety says that Williams' character "has a major stake in the franchise" and the role will be "equivalent to a co-starring one, alongside Fassbender, in the sequel."
Justin Kurzel is lined up to direct, and filming begins in September, so I suspect we'll begin to hear more about this project in the coming weeks.
