Aaron Taylor-Johnson Reportedly Offered the Role of James Bond
Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Bullet Train) has reportedly been offered the role of 007 in Eon Productions’ next James Bond movie. The news comes from The Sun, which also says that he is expected to officially come on board very soon, ahead of production later this year.
A source told the publication, "Bond is Aaron's job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back. As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement."
Last year, it was reported that Bond franchise producer Barbara Broccoli had met with Taylor-Johnson. Broccoli previously shared that they are looking for a younger British actor to play Bond next, and it seems like the actor has all the check marks of a good Bond.
There were rumors that Taylor-Johnson even did a screen test and that everything had gone “very well”. He’s apparently been a frontrunner for the role for a while, so if that’s the case it makes sense that he would be the actor they offered the to.
It was later revealed by screenwriter Michael G. Wilson that producers were looking for an actor who could authentically portray a Bond who had "been through the wars, so to speak." He also said, “He's probably been in the SAS or something. He isn't some kid out of high school that you can bring in and start off."
We’ll just have to wait and see what comes of this, but if Aaron-Johnson is cast, I think he’ll be great in the role! What do you all think about the actor taking in the role of James Bond is the upcoming 26th film and beyond?
